Lockdown Humidity Control Tips

Lockdown Humidity & Ventilation

1. Getting that moisture level right is essential so membranes stay soft and chicks can zip easily without getting stuck. A simple detail people often overlook is that surface area dictates humidity, not water depth. A deep, narrow container just holds reserve volume, whilst a wide, shallow surface actually lifts the reading.

2. Factory settings and built in water trays do not always deliver what is needed in every setup, especially during dry spells. We prefer using calibrated independent monitors to verify actual conditions, then tweaking container sizes or adding clean damp sponges to dial things in accurately.

3. Once chicks begin pipping, that extra moisture will naturally spike, which is when cracking open the vents keeps fresh oxygen moving through inside the hatcher/incubator.

These are a few simple methods we rely on, and we hope they help anyone facing humidity challenges or feeling unsure about what to do during lockdown. Happy hatching!
