Description
Order Status Guide
Update: 17 June 2026
Our flocks are currently enjoying a well-deserved winter rest. We anticipate they will resume laying shortly after the Winter Solstice. As the season progresses, we will be closely monitoring both productivity and fertility levels.
Please note that we will only open for new orders once we are confident that both fertility and egg production have fully recovered. Given the high volume of daily inquiries and the wide variety of breeds we care for, we are unable to maintain a manual waiting list.
If you are interested in a specific breed, we kindly encourage you to use the ‘Notify Me’ button located under each egg listing. As soon as we are ready to fulfill orders, you will automatically receive an email notification.
Thank you for your understanding and continued support!

The Hamburg is a graceful, active, and beautifully refined heritage breed that has long been admired for its elegance and consistent egg production. Originating in Europe, Hamburgs are small to medium-sized chickens known for their alert nature, excellent foraging ability, and striking plumage patterns. They come in several colour varieties, including Silver Spangled, Golden Spangled, Silver Pencilled, Golden Pencilled, and Black.
This breed is easily recognised by its elegant, upright carriage and glossy plumage. Hamburgs feature a distinctive rose comb, white earlobes, and a graceful build with fine features. While feather colour varies by variety, all Hamburgs share a neat and refined appearance that makes them stand out in any flock.
Hamburgs are lively and independent birds that love to stay active. They prefer plenty of space to roam and explore, making them ideal for free-range environments. Although not typically a lap chicken, they are friendly, intelligent, and get along well within a flock. Their alert and curious nature also makes them excellent at avoiding predators.
This breed is hardy, adaptable, and thrives in a variety of climates. They handle warmer weather particularly well thanks to their light build and energetic temperament. Hamburgs are also known for their longevity and robust health when kept in clean, spacious environments ; making them a wonderful choice for those seeking pet chickens with personality and style.
At Pip & Grow, we breed the Silver Spangled Hamburg variety. Our breeding group is sourced directly from one of Australia’s top Hamburg breeders, who has been dedicated to improving the breed for many years and exhibited successfully. Our birds are well-marked, display excellent type, and meet the key standards you’d expect from quality Silver Spangled Hamburgs.
