Bobwhite Quail are a hardy and active quail species, well suited to aviaries and game bird setups. Known for their distinctive call and attractive brown-and-cream markings, they are commonly kept for breeding and as ornamental birds. Bobwhites are alert and can be flighty, so they do best in spacious enclosures with good shelter. They produce small white eggs from spring through to autumn. While they can be slightly timid, they may become more accustomed to their keeper with patience and consistent care. Their pleasant calling makes them a lovely addition to the backyard.

Also known as Northern Bob White Quail

Incubation

Bob white quail eggs take approximately 23–24 days to hatch. In an incubator setting, standard incubation conditions are followed from day 0 to day 21, with “lockdown” beginning on day 21 and lasting until day 25. The temperature and humidity requirements are the same as those used for chicken and Japanese quail eggs but longer. Please see Bob white quail hatching tip for more info.
